Hello World!

My name is Angel Lopez.

Who I am:

This entire site is dedicated to my journey.  When I took my first photography class at Sacramento State I became hooked to the whole process of creating beautiful images.  I didn’t know where that would lead me but I knew I loved it enough to make it a part of myself for the rest of my life.  This idea carried me to graduation in 2006, when I received my degree in Photography and officially became the first person in my family to graduate from college.  Flash forward three years and I’m on track to starting my own photography business.

I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my images and new found knowledge of photography when I left school but I do now.  I want to share in the joy that people feel on their wedding day.  I want to push myself to create the amazing images that a couple will love for the rest of their life.  There is a freedom, a beautiful pressure, and a wonderful opportunity for creative expression that I’ve found in wedding photography.  This entire site is my journey from someone who has been trained in how to take photographs to someone who does it for a living and manages the terrible (but necessary) task of also being a business owner.

Why I blog:

Despite what you just read above, this blog is going to be all over the place, and that’s on purpose.  When I decided this was something I wanted to devote myself to I also decided that I would do it on my terms.  I love who I am, and the things I don’t love about me I’m open with and am working on.  This blog will be the world’s window into who I am, what I think, the weirdness that goes on in my mind that I’m willing to share, pretty much everything that makes me, me.  I want people to know who I am so that they can make a better decision on whether or not I can be their photographer.  Yes, a post could have nothing at all to do with photography, but it’s still all about me being a photographer.  Who I am and what I enjoy influences how I see the world and how I will create my images.  Is the dream to be the best photographer I can be, make as many deals as I can, and make as much money as possible?  No way.  The dream is to be the best person I can be, which will make me the best photographer I can be, and to work with people who have seen who I really am and actually want to work with me not only because they like my work but also because they feel a connection with the dorky, hard-working, geeky, awesome person I am.

Welcome everyone.  :)
